On this week's Daisy Deadhead Show, Daisy takes on Honey Boo Boo, and makes a dramatic prediction. Then she turns her attention to the Oconee Nuclear Station, which has a lot in common with Fukushima, the nuclear power plant which melted down in Japan. George Carlin lends his weight to the show, as do FDR and Iranian President Ahmadinejad. Two of them intend to be funny, but the funniest may be the one who thinks he's being serious. Double A and Gregg talk about the Green Party/Democratic Party forum held recently in Greenville, and Double A talks about the Upstate Pride Parade in Spartanburg. Y'all listen!

Is Mitt Romney giving aid and comfort to the enemy?

Daisy accuses Mitt Romney and his Republican cohorts of treason and offering aid and comfort to the enemy. By criticizing Obama before he or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had even issued a statement, Romney breaks the bonds which should bring us together. Daisy asks, if liberals had done this after the attack on the World Trade Center, would FOX News be supporting them like they are supporting Romney?

Also, Daisy explains the differences between Neo-Conservatives, Paleo-Conservatives and Conservatives...or as she explains it, "Coyboys and Yankees" and William F. Buckley. Toss in some Trotsky, stir and you have Daisy's lesson on the three branches of what we call "conservative".

Republicans Party in Tampa

Daisy takes a South Carolina Green look at the Republican Nominating Convention with special attention to the role played by her governor, Nikki Haley. Governor Haley pointed to her voter suppression efforts, which will disenfranchise between 175,000 and 200,000 South Carolinian, to thunderous applause. Daisy talks about the "Brown Washing" of the RNC with the placement of the Puerto Rican delegation in a prominent position with TV cameras rolling.

In the next segment Daisy, Gregg and Double A discuss Paul Ryan, his role as cheerleader for the TARP plan, other corporate and bank bail outs, and wonder aloud just how the TEA Party is "in control" of the Republican Party when they got two politicians who have supported so much the TEA Party opposed at the top of their ticket.

In the final segment Daisy discusses the Republican "We Built It" theme, and the group tosses in all sorts of Green Party, Congressional and Occupy news, including a Labor Day celebration Monday, September 3rd, 5 PM, at Piazza Bergamo, located at the corner of Coffee and Main Street in downtown Greenville, SC. As the curtain closes on the show Daisy gives a bit of a preview of the Democratic Nominating Convention. Roots of Republican Rape Definitions - 9:00 AM EST

www.StatCounter.com/myspace/ - Free myspace Profile Counter

"When Todd Akin said that women didn't get pregnant if they were "legitimately raped", Daisy knew she had heard this sort of insanity before. Using her vast knowledge of all things feminist she unearthed another Republican, this time in South Dakota, who has his own definition of "real rape". This ultimately leads Daisy to discuss Ayn Rand's rape scene in "The Fountainhead", and the way her self-first philosophy guides today's most extreme Republican leaders.

Daisy is joined by Gregg, who explains how the Green Party defines feminism, and Double A, who shares insights about Rand, Christianity and reminds us all that The Daisy Deadhead Show is THE place to go for the latest cultural news.

This program is hosted by Daisy Deadhead of Daisy's Dead Air blog and Gregg Jocoy of the South Carolina Green Party which sponsors the show.

The Daisy Deadhead Show is live from 9 to 10 AM EST. Tune in on your radio dial at 1600AM or 94.9FM if you live in the Fountain Inn, Simpsonville or Mauldin area. To get Twitter Text updates text: follow DeadheadShow to 40404.

Assange, Ryan & Rand

Memories are our mental records of history. Photos can help us recall memories. In this week's episode of The Daisy Deadhead Show Daisy and Gregg talk about the importance of holding on to memories and photographs so we can create our own history. "Please put your photos and memories online." Daisy says.

Julian Assange is in the headlines again. The founder of Wikileaks was granted political asylum by Ecuador but not so fast. The British government is threatening to revoke Ecuador’s embassy status and take Assange by force.

Daisy exposes the basis of the political ideology of Republican VP nominee Paul Ryan. Ryan greatly admires Ayn Rand who was an author among other things and she thought selfishness was required for society to prosper and was the highest virture one could attain. An ardent atheist, Rand even went so far as to reject William F. Buckley's hand in friendship because he, like Ryan, was an avid Roman Catholic.

Finally they get into what would seem to be the final curtain in the battle to save the Mauldin open Air Market from the state DOT's plans to put in a turn lane where none is needed.

How to reach out to GPATS members and help protect the Mauldin Open Air Market

On today's show we said we would place the addresses of all the members of GPATS on the show's website so you can contact the members if you wanted to do so. The hope is that some of you will write these people and ask them to oppose any SC DOT plans to take Joel Ann Chandler's land away from her. Joel Ann owns the Mauldin Open Air Market, a land mark business on one of the main roads leading to Mauldin.

There are three "paragraphs" below. The first if a list of links to forms you must use to contact our state legislators. Apparently they don't want you to contact them directly, so you'll have to do this one at a time. I suspect that is designed to keep from the "regular people" from bothering them.

The second is a list of the email contacts for other GPATS members. Simply copy this list, and paste it into your email's "addresses" space.

The last is the basic message we hope to get to GPATS members. Simply copy the paragraph below the list of addresses, paste it into the body of the legislative contact form or the body of your email, make any changes you want to make, and hit "send". To get more details on GPATS' plans for the Mauldin Open Air Market, click here. To read what Daisy has written about the situation, at her blog. All links will open in a new tab or page automatically.

Contact State Legislators by clicking each link.
Senator Ralph Anderson
Senator David L. Thomas
Senator Phillip W. Shoopman
Senator Danny Verdin
Senator Larry A. Martin
Representative Eric Bikas
Representative Dwight Loftis
Representative Phil Owens
Representative Joshua Putnam

This is a list of all other GPATS member e-mail addresses. Only voting members are included.

Dear GPATS Member,

I am writing you today to ask you to oppose any plans proposed by the Department of Transportation or GPATS staff which would put the Mauldin Open Air Market at risk by using eminent domain to seize Joel Ann Chandler's land for a proposed turn lane. The turn lane would serve a very limited purpose, while the entire community benefits from the Mauldin Open Air Market. A community land mark known far and wide, the market serves as a place where customer and producer meet, with Joel Ann and her staff as the perfect go-between. Please respect her property rights, and be wiser with our tax dollars. Leave her land exactly where it belongs, in her family.

Chick-Fil-A, Jack Schaap & GPAT's abuse of power

Tune in 9:00 AM EST

On this week's episode of The Daisy Deadhead Show, Daisy and Gregg talk about the boycott of Chick-Fil-A and traditional marriage.

Who is Jack Schaap? He is not another preacher in trouble over having sex with a young member of his flock is he? Rev. Jack Schaap pastors the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist Church, and Hyles-Anderson College and pictures found on his cell phone may bring him down.

Finally we go back and discuss GPATS' plan to grab Joel Ann Chandler's land away from her to create a turn lane where none is needed.

Bain Capital: What's Romney got to hide?

Romney still has not released his tax forms and he acts as a man with something to hide. Nikki Haley says domestic violence is not a big concern for her even though South Carolina has a terrible record of women being murdered by their partners.

Saturday, July 7, 2012

Where in the world is Mitt's money?

Mitt Romney doesn't want to disclose the source of his vast wealth other than disclosing the minimal that Federal law requires. The records that he did release show income from Bain Capital the investment firm he co-founded and Goldman Sachs, a recipient of the tax payer funded bailout of banks that started under George Bush co-signed by President Obama who was backed by firm in 2008 but has become Mitt Romney's biggest donor for the 2012 election. The media is engaged in a new game called "Where in the World is Mitt Romney's Money" as they investigate the off shore accounts of the Republican presumptive nominee. The game of cat and mouse that Romney is playing makes people wonder what does he have to hide.

This story and more as we look at recent actions of Governor Nikki Haley whose recent vetoes cut two state agencies in South Carolina.

Marriage Equality & Romney's Gay Hate Crime

9:00 AM EST

On this week's show...Daisy covers the passage of Amendment One in North Carolina,

I knew the horribly homophobic and bigoted Amendment One (in North Carolina) would pass, because nothing gets the fundies stirred up like getting a chance to shit all over the gays....Interestingly,
the last time North Carolina amended their constitution on marriage (in 1875), it was to outlaw interracial marriages.....read more

Mitt Romney is in full denial mode as several witnesses and accomplices come forward to describe a hate crime committed against a fellow student in the elite boarding school they all attended when Romney was in his teens.

What Women think... Nikki Haley vs. Daisy DeadHead

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley said on the TV talk show “The View” that “women don’t care about contraception,”. That comment has sparked a backlash against the embattled Governor of South Carolina who is also in a fight with the feds over controversial Voter Id legislation. Daisy Deadhead says she has a few ideas "since women don't care about contraception".

South Carolina blogger Will Folks is writing a book about his "affair" with Gov. Nikki Haley. Folks wrote in his blog back in 2010 that he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" several years ago with Haley.

The truth in this case is what it is. Several years ago, prior to my marriage, I had an inappropriate physical relationship with Nikki. - Will Folks

The Empire Strikes Back!

Tune in live Saturday at 9:00 AM EST. The right wing is in full attack mode pushing back against what they call biased coverage of the Trayvon Martin story. Bill O’Reilly recently lambasted MSNBC and CNN, saying the media "is exploiting the terrible death of 17-year-old Trayvon by convicting the man who shot him, George Zimmerman, of wrongdoing on television." The Daily Caller went so far as to "enhance" a photograph from a ABC News video that they said shows an injury to the back of George Zimmerman's head. The political media wing of the GOP has not forgotten of course to take on Obamacare and Robert Greenwald is taking on the Koch brothers in his new film titled "Koch Brothers Exposed".

Today we will recap the Republican primaries to date with contest coming up on February 28th in Arizona and Michigan. Daisy elaborates on her blog post questioning why a major world corporation would use a “woman-killing” song and nobody seems to care or notice? Is it because the song is by a conservative operative? Why is Volkswagen using Ted Nugent’s song “Stranglehold”. Green Party Presidential candidate nominee Jill Stein (www.JillStein.org) will be our special guest. Stein is a candidate for the Green Party presidential nomination.

Santorum's Sexism

Rick Santorum criticized the Pentagon decision to allow 14,000 more female soldiers to serve closer to combat lines. He claimed men would be to emotional and jeopardize the mission to protect female soldiers. Usually the argument is that women are too emotional and since Santorum has never served in the military, what does he base his argument on? Sexism seems to be a common theme with the Santorum campaign. Rick Santorum’s Iowa coalitions director, Jamie Johnson, last summer sent out an email saying that children’s lives would be harmed if the nation had a female president.

Daisy and Gregg will aslo discuss if the Occupy movement should start occupying homes being forclosed upon as the foreclosure continue to happen at alarming rates despite bank bailouts and federal mortgage re-modification programs.

The Gringrich who stole South Carolina

As you probably know, Newt Gingrich got the most votes in the South Carolina primaries. What you may not know is that the Grinch who stole South Carolina, along with Rick Santorum, both Catholics, were called on by a group of Catholic Bishops to stop their race baiting rhetoric and demonizing the poor. We'll also take a look at the Florida primaries where Newt promised Floridians that he will work to start a moon colony if elected President. Is the current crop of Presidential candidates all the GOP has to offer the American people?

Healthcare reform is back in the news again with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius making her media rounds to tout improvements. Lets talk about health care and discuss some of the SC Occupy teach ins.

Last but not least, Gregg will update us on his legal case regarding the assault on his freedom of speech which resulted in him being ticketed for having a protest sign deemed to large. Let see, political candidates can purchase billboards but apparently hand held poster boards are deemed to large?

South Carolina GOP Primary, Drug War and Ron Paul

This week, Daisy and Gregg will be discussing the 2012 South Carolina primary, and particularly the pivotal role of Ron Paul in the presidential race. We will also be discussing racism and the drug war, and how the local (Greenville area) news media has totally ignored this issue, even when (supposedly) covering the controversial political views of Dr Paul. The deck is stacked, and we will be pointing this out and analyzing it further.

We will also reflect on the life and work of Martin Luther King Jr who created the Poor People's Campaign along with the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. After the assasination of Dr.King, The SCLC and other leaders decided to continue the Poor Peoples campaign in King’s honor. On May 12, 1968, demonstrators began a two-week protest in Washington, D.C. and that same month thousands of poor people of all races set up a shantytown known as “Resurrection City.” The city was closed down in mid-June and the economic bill of rights was never passed.
